Definition
The California Family Rights Act (CFRA) provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for family and medical reasons. CFRA is more expansive than federal FMLA, covering employers with 5+ employees and including additional family members. CFRA runs concurrently with FMLA when both apply.
